Passionate pedallers seek wild challenges

Issue our three cycle maniacs with a challenge, and help raise money for Forest & Bird.

As you read this email, this Belgian-Spanish couple will be pedalling across our coastal highways, back roads and cycleways – with their 14-month-old baby in tow.

Wouter Van Wezemael, Vanessa Mudarra and daughter Ella began their epic cycle journey at Cape Reinga on November 1, and aim to reach Bluff in about five months.

They are keeping supporters in touch with a blog, which reveals their daily struggle with passing trucks, challenging hills, blazing sun, pouring rain and strong winds.

They aim to raise $20,000 during the trip, and are seeking fundraising challenges. Donations to Forest & Bird can be made online at www.cycle4nature.org or www.givealittle.co.nz/cause/cycle4nature/
